Scrap & Downtime Reporting System
Designing a relational foundation for repeatable daily scrap and downtime reporting.
The problem
Scrap and downtime information needed to become a useful daily operational report, but the underlying information was not organized in a way that made analysis and reporting straightforward.
The approach
I began designing a relational Microsoft Access database and a SQL-based reporting workflow. The design separates related information into appropriate tables rather than treating the report as one large flat dataset.
Design in progress
The database and reporting workflow are still in development. The current design focuses on structuring scrap and downtime records to support repeatable daily reporting.
Intended outcome
The intended outcome is a repeatable daily reporting process that makes scrap and downtime easier to analyze and helps identify where losses are occurring. A completed implementation and measured results are not yet available.
